What are you looking for?

Sitting on my back porch, I’m surrounded by wildlife.. hummingbirds swooping around my porch feeder.. dragonfly’s dancing over the yard.. birds chirping and singing enjoying the freshly filled feeder..

I thought in my heart how incredible it is that these wild creatures find my feeders and then communicate to others about it. I’ve heard that hummingbirds migrate and then return to the same feeders year after year.. they are fascinating little creatures.

I asked The Lord because after all, He authored their design. “How do they find it Lord?”

“It’s in their DNA to always be looking.” “You will find what you're looking for.”

“Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.” Matthew 7:7

This opened up a revelation in my heart. This is true for not only food.. but in life.. in others.. in ourselves.. in circumstances and perspectives.

The scriptures Jeremiah 29:13  “If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.”

So, what are we looking for?

I believe this is a deep-rooted question that operates constantly in our subconscious being. We are all created to seek.

The question is who or what are you seeking? The answer is not found in a simple thought, but often a survey of the fruit of life.

Where is my gift of time spent?

What inhabits my thoughts?

What do I dwell on?

When I meet a person am I looking for Jesus or evil?

When a circumstance arises am I quick to despair, negativity frustration or hope, opportunity and gratitude?

Concerning world matters, am I looking for Jesus or the darkness?

Concerning myself, am I looking for Jesus or criticizing everything about me?

My relationships, am I looking for Jesus or darkness?

We were all designed to seek..

this is ultimately the garden.. the tree of the knowledge of good and evil..

What we seek, we will most certainly find.. and the evidence is all around us.

One might ask, but how can you seek Jesus in the darkest of places or situations?

There is nowhere that He is not. (Psalm 139:1-18, John 1:1-5, Colossians 1:16)

In my darkest hours of my life, I have found the extraordinary grace to experience His presence in incomprehensible ways.

Finding Jesus in a situation is what empowers transformation, in us and in whatever we are walking through.

My encouragement to you today, open your hearts to Holy Spirit, ask him to give you eyes to see Him. Surrender your perspectives to make room for his.

Peace will come, hope will come, rest will come. Because that is who He is. Life abundant.
